FAQs

What is Féile na mBan?

‘Féile na mBan’ means ‘Festival of Women’ in Gaelic. The original Féile na mBan coincides with a Celtic ritual called ‘Imbolc’, also known as St Brigids day on February 1st.

Who was St.Brigid?

Brigid is very present in Irish folklore, in pre-Christian times as a Goddess, and also as one of Ireland’s three patron saints. She is unique, in that she represents both a mythical woman and a historical woman, and many of the elements of these identities have been blended to create legends and stories of exceptional female achievement. Our festival celebrates all elements of woman in as many ways possible, and we welcome everyone to join us.

Is this an inclusive festival?

Yes! Everyone is welcome to Féile na mBan, and while the festival celebrates Women and has some women-specific events, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
